Jamie Foxx - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Newsletter_june11_clip_image001.jpgJamie began getting facial services here at Le Skintique our Day SPA Beauty Salon around 1991 (by then Belinda White) when he was starring in his sitcom In Living Color. Then from 1996-2001 he starred in his own sitcom The Jamie Foxx show and later went on to win an Academy Award for Best Actor in his performance as Ray Charles. Jamie has always been a favorite client of ours.  He has since won several Grammies , Bet Awards, Movie/TV Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Soul Train award in 2009.
Jamie valued our salon taking care of his skin needs for making his personal stage and film appearances.  We feel so grateful to have had such a worthy client as Jamie Foxx.

Next month read our feature Celebrity Queen Latifa when she started with us.

Celebrities who Started getting Facial Services at Le Skintique – Part II Queen Latifah.

Dana Elaine Owens better known by her stage name  Queen Latifah was getting her facials here at LeSkintique around the first quarter of 2004, to be exact March 2004. We were always impressed with Queen’s beautiful smile and lovely skin.  Together with an outgoing  personality and good nature she  always took her Facials seriously  and the  late Belinda White, Founder of Le Skintique took pride in her total skin care .

As we all know by now Queen Latifah's work in music, film and television has earned her a Golden Globe award, two Screen Actosrs Guild Awards, two Image Awards, a Grammy Award, six additional Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award nomination and an Academy Award nomination.

  • In 2004, she released the soul/jazz standards The Dana Owens Album. On July 11, 2007, Latifah sang at the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles as the headlining act in a live jazz concert. Before a crowd of more than 12,400, she was backed by a 10-piece live orchestra and three backup vocalists, The Queen Latifah Orchestra. Latifah performed new arrangements of standards including "California Dreaming", first made popular by '60s icons The Mamas & the Papas. Later in 2007, Latifah released an album entitled Travlin Lite.We are very proud to have service Queen Latifah in 2004 the years have flown by and we wish her all the luck and good fortune she is having.  We still love her.!!  Next  Berne Mack

Bernie Mac Actor and Celebrity received facial services here at le Skintique in 2004 through 2/26/2005

In loving memory of  Bernie Mac who we miss so much  he was so funny and took excellent care of his skin and valued getting Microdermabrasions by Balinda White, the late Owner of Le Skintique now operated and managed by James White, Owner. Leskintique provides Microdermabrasions safely on all skin colors and types, except very thin skin, or broken capillaries.  We are proud to be an award winning age defying skin care salon. We use exclusive skin product brands that tightens the fibers and strengthens the dermal connective tissues that aids in treating and rebuilding. Bernie had one of the most hectic schedules but he always took time for his facials.

Celebrities that Got Facials at Le Skintique.

Pat Harvey is an award winning broadcast journalist who became a client of Le Skintique in the late 90’s. Pat is such a lovely lady with a lovely family and we are all so very proud of her.  We realize that most of the Celebrities have come and gone on to better and bigger opportunities but I do think it is important to note that before they were famous that they did come to Le Skintique to get Facial Treatments. The Late Belinda White was Pat’s Skin Specialist and friend surprised her husband “James White” by asking him to go with her to get her hair done.  Like most men he said; “why do I have to go with you to get your hair done? Needless to say Mr. White went with her and she told him to wait in the other room.  While Mr. White was sitting in the other room reading the door opened and in walked Pat Harvey.  James was so surprised he said; “Get out of here” you are so much smaller that you look on TV but still so very beautiful, she laughed. Later that year she invited both Belinda and James to her Christmas Holiday Party and they all sang Christmas Carrols and had a wonderful evening by the Fire Place.

Next month we will feature Garcelle Beauvais.

Lalah Hathaway News

Donny Hathaway Would Be Proud of His Daughter Lalah Hathaway

The singer is a product of the Berklee College of Music and being a child of Donny Hathaway (who was also a successful soul singer before.) After her studies in that school, Lalah was signed up for a record deal by Virgin Records, who helped her release her first album called Lalah Hathaway back in 1990. Lalah seems to have what it takes because her debut album was well-received and several Rhythm and Blues (R&B) songs became hits.

Lalah Hathaway has been able to work with different musicians and artists to create music. Some well-known names in music that worked with Lalah are Mary J. Blige, Take 6, Marcus Miller, and Joe Sample. But Lalah still remains categorized as a contemporary R&B, and Jazz, singer. It is good she inherited the vocal genetics of her father Donny (who died after falling from a hotel room building when he was just 33 and Lalah was only 10 years old.)

If you manage to buy a ticket to a Lalah Hathway show, you might notice that she does perform some well-known songs of her father. Lalah likes to say that being his daughter has its pros and cons – the pro part being that many people opened doors to her in music because of her lineage, and the con being that she has to prove she can be just as good a singer as her late father. Still, since Lalah grew up in a musically-inclined family (with her mother trained in classical singing, and a younger sister who can play the guitar, and percussion instruments, and can sing too), her exposure probably helped her live up to expectations and dispel doubts about her capabilities

Eddie Murphy Quits as Oscars Host

File this under least surprising news of the day. Less than 24 hours after Brett Ratner resigned his Oscar producing duties, Eddie Murphy has stepped down as host of the 84th annual Academy Awards. Murphy leaves the high-profile position after the uproar surrounding Ratner's controversial comments at a 'Tower Heist' screening last week, when the director said, "Rehearsing's for fags."

"First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony," said Murphy in a statement released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. "I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

Said AMPAS president Tom Sherak about Murphy's decision, "I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well."

With Murphy officially gone, the question must be asked: Who is going to step up as host? Neil Patrick Harris, come on down?
